Nikolaos Skubas

- Dr. Skubas earned his medical degree from Aristoteles University in Thessaloniki, Greece. Following anesthesiology residency he completed a two-year fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Skubas is a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) and American College of Cardiology (FACC). Dr. Skubas was an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Washington University when recruited by Weill Cornell Medicine in 2002. He became Department Chairman in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH in 2017 and Professor of Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. Dr. Skubas has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and co-authored practice guidelines sponsored by the American Society of Echocardiography, American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association. He is a co-editor of the Yao & Artusio’s Problem-Oriented Patient Management, 8th edition. He is serving on the editorial board of the journal Anesthesia and Analgesia since 2005 and is the Executive Section Editor for Perioperative Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Education. He also is an associate editor for the journal Anesthesiology. Dr. Skubas is the Chair of the Basic Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (Basic PTeXAM) Writing Committee of the National Board of Echocardiography, which provides board certification in echocardiography.
