Latest COVID-19 news in Korea
South Korea has extended its toughest social distancing rules, Level 4 in the greater Seoul area; level 3 in other areas including Busan, until October 17, while speeding up the administration of coronavirus vaccines to help curb the spread of the virus.
According to the Korea Disease Control and prevention Agency(KDCA), the number of new confirmed cases per day has reached to more than 2,000.
However, the current vaccination rate is increasing to 90.1% (1st dose) and 63.4% (2nd dose) for adults. After observing the vaccination rate and epidemic situation for the next two weeks, the government expects to be able to transition to a gradual recovery of daily life and is considering ways to ease restrictions focusing on those who have completed vaccination.

코로나 4차 대유행 지속으로 현행 수도권 4단계, 비수도권 3단계가 17일까지 2주 추가 연장되었습니다.
현재, 백신 접종률은 성인기준으로 90.1%(1차), 63.4%(2차)로 증가하고 있습니다. 정부는 다가오는 2주간 예방접종률과 유행상황을 지켜본 후 단계적 일상회복으로 전환할 수 있을 것으로 전망하고 있으며, 접종완료자 중심으로 제한을 완화하는 방안을 검토중에 있습니다.
KoreAnesthesia 2021 오프라인 참가를 희망하시는 경우, 백신 접종(2차 완료)을 완료하신 분에 한하여 10월 15일(금)까지 참석 형태를 제출하여 주시고, 추후 안내드리는 문진표 작성 및 예방접종 증명 등 현장 방역 절차를 반드시 이행하여 주시길 부탁드립니다.
본 학술대회가 열리는 11월 부터 단계적 일상회복을 할 수 있도록 모임과 이동을 가급적 자제해 주시는 등 거리두기와 개인 방역 수칙을 준수하여 주시길 부탁드립니다.

South Korea's daily COVID-19 cases have stayed above 1,000 for over two months amid the fast spread of delta variant. The government of South Korea is strengthening the quarantine policy to prevent the potential increase of COVID-19 infections after an upcoming major holiday. The KDCA confirmed 68.1 percent of the population have received their first shots of COVID-19 vaccines, and 41.2 percent have been fully vaccinated. Expecting 80 percent of adults to be fully vaccinated by late October, the government is planning to enter 'with corona' system on how to live normally with COVID-19.

9월 3주 기준 백신 접종률은 국내 전체 인구대비 68.1%(1차), 41.2%(2차)를 기록하며 꾸준히 증가하고 있지만, 일일 확진자는 전체 2,000명대(부산 50명대) 위기에서 벗어나지 못하고 있습니다. 현재 부산지역은 사회적 거리두기 3단계를 유지 중입니다.
KoreAnestheisa 2021은 현재의 사회적 거리두기 단계를 지침을 기준으로 개최를 준비하고 있으며 현재 지침과 부합하는 방역수준을 유지하기 위하여 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 현 방역수준에서 BEXCO에서 최대로 수용할 수 있는 인원은 350명 내외이며, 유동성을 고려하더라도 보수적으로 400명 수준을 예상하고 있습니다.
오프라인 참가자의 경우 2 차까지 백신접종을 완료하셔야 하며, 사전 설문지와 예방접종 증명 등 오프라인 참가를 위해 필요한 증명을 반드시 준비해주시길 부탁드립니다.
건강하고 즐거운 연휴 보낼 수 있도록 개개인의 방역 수칙을 잘 지켜주시기 바랍니다.

South Korea extends its strictest social distancing rules, 4th level, the Seoul metropolitan area for another four weeks. Restriction on private gatherings of 5 or more people maintained for non-Seoul metropolitan areas.
South Korea's daily new COVID-19 cases fell back below 2,000 this week. The number of cases tends to fluctuate depending on the day of the week.
While the number of cases of COVID-19 infection in Germany, Japan, and Vietnam continues to increase, in Korea, both the incidence and death rate of COVID-19 infection are low compared to major countries.
As of the first week of September, 57.5% (1st dose) and 32.7% (2nd dose) of the total population in Korea were vaccinated.

추석 이동 증가로 인한 유행 급증 여부 등을 평가하기 위해 수도권 지역은 오는 9월 6일부터 10월 3일까지 4주간 현행 4단계 유지, 부산의 경우에는 3단계로 완화하여 거리두기가 시행됩니다.
델타변이로 인해 높은 발생이 지속되는 가운데 우리나라는 다른 주요 국가 대비 발생이 낮은 상황이며, 8월 2주 기준 확진자 발생이 차츰 감소하고 있고 예방접종률은 증가하고 있습니다.
백신 접종의 경우, 9월 1주 기준 국내 전체 인구대비 57.5%(1차), 32.7%(2차)를 기록하고 있습니다.
거리두기 기준과 개인 방역 지침을 준수하며 백신 접종이 완료될때 까지 코로나19에 감염되지 않도록 각자의 노력이 필요할 것입니다.

Latest COVID-19 news in Korea
The number of cases keeps increasing during the last 8 weeks globally especially in Israel, Japan, and the United States due to the Delta Variant, which is more infectious and was leading to increased transmissibility when compared to other variants, even in vaccinated individuals.
South Korea has completed the 1-round vaccination for 48.3%, approximately 2.5 million people.
Also, the government started the 10-day rotation system for the vaccine reservations, and it is completed with more than 6 million bookings. They will be vaccinated from late August and expecting a total percentage of 70% will get the 1st shot in September.

코로나19 4차 대유행으로 부산 4단계 거리두기가 9월 5일(일)까지 연장되었습니다.
빠른 감염속도와 높은 전파력을 가진 델타 변이바이러스가 우세종(85%)으로 전환되며, 단기간내 유행통제가 어려워지고 있으며, 지역사회내 집단감염이 증가하고 있습니다.
위중증 환자는 150명 내외에서 380명 이상으로 증가하였지만, 예방접종자가 늘어나면서 중증도가 저하될 것으로 예상됩니다. (8월말까지 1차 접종 54% 예상)

Approximately 20 million people, accounting for 40% of the total population of South Korea, completed the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. And 7.4 million people were fully vaccinated.
The government of South Korea recently announced a vaccination plan that covers 17 million people between the ages of 18 and 49 years. The government will have an additional supply of AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna in the third quarter. South Korea aims to complete the first shot for more than 50% of the population in August.
As the fourth wave of COVID-19 continues, the government extends Level 4 social distancing for the Seoul metropolitan area and Level 3 for the Busan Area. To overcome the pandemic, We are trying our best by complying with the distancing guideline and getting vaccinated.

델타 변이바이러스와 함께 휴가철 전국 이동량이 많아지면서 부산 지역 내 신규 확진자가 연이어 세 자릿수를 기록하였습니다.
8월 9일(월)부터 18~49세 청장년층 대상 10부제로 사전예약이 진행됨에 따라 8월 말까지 국민의 50% 이상이 1차 접종이 완료될 것으로 예상됩니다.
거리두기 기준과 개인 방역 지침을 준수하며 백신 접종이 완료될 때까지 코로나19에 감염되지 않도록 각자의 노력이 필요할 것입니다.

As an increasing number of infections has been reported in Korea, the social distancing level has been raised to Level 3 for the Busan area by Aug 1. With the recent surge of the highly contagious Delta variant and vacationers, South Korea is facing a new wave of infections with daily cases exceeding 1,000 for the past week.
Administrative order has been announced to limit private gatherings of 5 or more people in the Busan area. The incentive for vaccinated people to be excluded from the limit is no longer applicable.
It is strongly urged for everyone to strengthen individual protection from the virus and comply with social distancing guidelines.

Latest COVID-19 news in Korea
The number of people who completed the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination exceeded 10 million, accounting for more than 20% of the total South Korean population. The government of South Korea is starting to ease restrictions gradually and cautiously following the number of vaccinations.
The primary vaccination of the age group under 30 is planned for the second quarter. The vaccinations in different age groups are expected to significantly reduce the number of COVID-19 infections in the third quarter, and we are cautiously looking forward to meeting more participants in person at the venue.

The two leaders, the president of South Korea and U.S.A., agreed on establishing the KORUS Global Vaccine Partnership on Friday, May 21. The government of South Korea has strengthened its role as a global vaccine hub by producing and supplying major COVID-19 vaccines to the world.
In addition to the partnership, the Ministry of Health and Welfare signed MOUs with related institutions and agencies to increase cooperation regarding the production and global supply of COVID-19 vaccines.
We expect the partnerships will lead the local community as well as the global community to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic in the near future.

The additional supply of Pfizer vaccines provided by the COVAX Facility has arrived in South Korea along with AstraZeneca's vaccines. The authorities and local governments are encouraging people to get vaccinated according to the vaccination schedule.
South Korea has been reporting over 5 hundred of new cases of COVID-19 every day during the month, but we are expecting the numbers to be declined soon.

The government of South Korea received emergency use authorization for the AstraZeneca vaccine provided by the COVAX Facility. The vaccines are expected to be delivered in May and June.
Secondary vaccinations will be initiated for those who received the primary AstraZeneca vaccination. And the government will start vaccinating people aged 60 to 74 years based on the priority for COVID-19 vaccination in Korea. We are trying to speed up the process of increasing vaccinated people in Korea and hoping to get to herd immunity in November.
It is time to step up, get vaccinated, and make the community stronger together from the virus.

We recognize some people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and ready to return to their daily life. KoreAnesthesia 2021 is going hybrid!
Due to international travel restrictions (COVID-19 pandemic), KoreAnesthesia 2021 will be held in a ‘Hybrid Meeting’ format, comprising an in-person conference and a virtual conference. Going hybrid will allow both international and domestic attendees to obtain latest insights and networking opportunities.
Based on our previous experience (KoreAnesthesia 2020), which was also held in hybrid format, we are confident that we will deliver an enriching and memorable experience for all attendees in the world.
